Weddings at Markington Hall

We can think of no better place than Markington Hall for you to celebrate your love. With a strictly limited number of events each year, we provide you with the blank canvas to create the wedding of your dreams and we will do our upmost to collaborate with you to ensure that your day is perfect.

Markington Hall is steeped in history, with the house dating back to Tudor times and surrounded by lawns and extensive gardens. If you stroll over the arched stone bridge and past the 18th century watermill you enter the Copper Beech Glade where you will find a backdrop of ancient birch, oak and copper beech trees.

So, whether you are looking for a venue to hold a reception after a church service/registry office signing or if you want to create your own service with a celebrant and exchange vows under the trees we have the magical location. Markington Hall provides you with the most versatile of locations: be it a drinks reception on the front lawn, an intimate gathering in the hall, a traditional marquee or a tipi we have the grounds to accommodate and help you create the ambience for your special day.

“We were looking for a really unique venue for our wedding which wouldaccommodate our 200 guests and offer enough outdoor space for upwards of 30 children to enjoy the day too. As soon as we saw the Copper Beech Glades we knew it was perfect. Markington Hall is steeped in history, the grounds are beautiful with new surprises around every corner, and the glade itself was the most picturesque site we could have hoped for our wedding. Julie and William were a pleasure to work with throughout, helping out and offering advice wherever they could, but also allowing us the freedom to create our perfect setup for the day. We’re already planning to go back and stay in the Gypsy Caravans for our future anniversaries!”

“We’d searched for a long time to find our perfect wedding venue that gave us the freedom to celebrate our marriage in our own way and our own style. Markington Hall had it all…stunning, natural surroundings, a place for guests to stay and wonderful owners -‐ William & Julie -‐ who were happy to answer our questions, no matter how small or frequent, and helped with many things that we hadn’t even considered. Our guests have told us repeatedly how amazing the location and the wedding were. Thank you for everything.”

Christopher and Rebecca Hunter – 14th September 2019

“ William and Julie were absolutely wonderful throughout the entire process, always meeting us with a smile, welcoming us at all hours whenever we wanted to visit the site, and answering any questions we had promptly . On the day, and the days leading uptown our wedding, they were so helpful, doing all the little things that make the day run smoothly , and were on Hand during the day as much or as little as we needed. The perfect venue hosts.
Markington Hall was the most beautiful, idyllic venue for our wedding. To be able to share such a gorgeous spot with all our family and friends on our special day was utter privilege . We couldn’t have asked for a more personal, beautiful, natural location and made memories there to last a life time. It’s the perfect location for a more DIY wedding, with all the practicalities necessary but still having the more natural, wilder feeling we want. Would fully recommend to anyone, regardless of their style of wedding. Thank you so much William and Julie “.

“We honestly could not have asked, wished, hoped for anything more than what Markington Hall gave us. It was everything we ever imagined and so much more. The care and dedication Julie and William gave us was like family. They felt part of it from beginning to end and now play such a fond memory to us. They paid such attention to making our dream wedding come true and the grounds couldn’t have looked more beautiful. The freedom they allowed us to decorate the Copper Beech Glade made our vision come to life. It will forever hold a very special place in our hearts.

James & Claire – July 21st 2018

“Markington Hall was the ideal place for us to have an outdoor ceremony and it was a beautiful place to hold a marquee reception, and practical too, with easy to access water and power for catering and entertainment. Will and Julie were welcoming and helpful, and really helped us out to put everything together. They made sure that everything went as smoothly as possible on the day itself. We both have fond memories of holding our ceremony in the copper beech glade, and the sight of our pole and canvas marquee on the lawn. This really is a venue worth considering if you need a flexible outdoor space for your own plans for a special event.”

“We fell in love with Markington Hall and we couldn’t imagine a more magical setting for our wedding.  The venue gives the most stunning backdrop to any wedding and gave us the freedom to tailor our wedding to be creative and personal.  Julie and William are such wonderful people who made the whole process exciting and happy and it was a pleasure to spend time with them in the lead up to the day.”
